Wearable History. Modern Heirlooms.

Ionia Jewelry transforms rare artifacts into modern heirlooms. Each piece is fabricated by artist and ancient coin collector Cynthia L. Green, whose work is guided by a deep reverence for antiquity and classical art.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient world, Cynthia reimagines each coin through fine gold and vibrant gemstones. The result is jewelry that honors history rather than repurposing it — allowing these timeless objects to be appreciated, worn, and passed down for generations.

The Artist

Cynthia is a lifelong lover of roman and greek ancient arts. As a young adult she studied at the Art Institute of Houston and various art academies throughout California, Nevada with goldsmithing techniques from Masters in Italy.

Cynthia approaches jewelry as both an artist and a collector. Her creative process is rooted in scholarship, provenance, and design sensitivity, ensuring that every coin remains the focal point of each piece. By blending iconic ancient imagery with refined contemporary craftsmanship, her designs become intimate expressions of heritage and personal meaning.

Ionia Jewelry is created in small batches, emphasizing exclusivity, intentionality and  craftsmanship. These are modern heirlooms: meant to be worn with intention, preserved with care and cherished for generations to come.

The Ionia Honeybee

Ionia Jewelry takes its name from the ancient Greek region of Ionia, located along the western coast of modern-day Turkey.  One of Ionia's most enduring symbols is the Honeybee of Ephesus, which appeared on ancient coins between the 3rd and 1st c BCE. The honeybee advertised the city's prized honey while serving as a powerful civic emblem of prosperity, fertility, and divine connection. It was closely associated with the goddess Artemis, one of the twelve Olympians and protector of Ephesus.  Ionia was also a cultural and economic center widely regarded as the birthplace of Western philosophy, science and the Ionic order of architecture.

Provenance & Certification

Every ancient coin used in Ionia Jewelry is hand selected by Cynthia and sourced exclusively from certified auction houses and reputable numismatic collectors. Coins are verified and graded by leading authorities such as Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), widely regarded as best-in-class within the field of numismatics.

Certification ensures authenticity, historical accuracy, and long-term confidence for collectors.

*All care is given to preserve the coin's integrity during the creative process. When certified coins are removed from their protective case the coin's authenticity and pedigree are not impacted, but as ancient coins are made from metals, the natural patina may change and any damage to the coin during wear could impact the original grade level.
