Ancient artistry, quietly expressed. This authentic Celtic silver quinarius is thoughtfully framed in fine silver and Argentium sterling, bringing the character of an ancient coin to an understated necklace.
Minted in central-eastern Gaul, around modern-day Besançon, France, circa 57–50 BC, the coin carries a galloping horse on one side and the head of Roma on the other. Its imagery brings together Celtic artistic abstraction and Roman Republican influence.
Attributed to the Aedui tribe, this silver coin dates to the era of Julius Caesar’s Gaelic Wars. Once a small denomination of ancient currency, it now offers a personal connection to a distant world, chosen as much for its history as for its beauty.
Handcrafted one at a time by Cynthia Green, the pendant pairs fine silver with Argentium sterling for a bright, refined finish. A 16-inch Argentium sterling cable chain completes the piece, equally considered worn alone or layered with a favorite necklace.
