A pair of powder-blue spiderweb turquoise, bezel-set in fine silver with two ancient celtic coins (1st c BCE)
An authentic set of silver quinarii set with beautiful hubei turquoise. These ancient Celtic coins were minted in central-eastern Gaul (around modern-day Besançon, France) during the mid-1st century (circa 57–50 BC). Quinarian coins served as half-denarius and represented roughly half a day's wages for an ordinary unskilled laborer or a Roman legionary soldier.
The front image features bridled horses rearing to the left. The legend reads Q DOCI above, and SAM F (for Samulali filius - the moneyer). On the other side, helmeted heads facing left of the Roman goddess Roma.
Minted by the Sequani tribe during the turbulent period of the Gallic Wars led by Julius Caesar, showcasing traditional Celtic artistic abstraction and Roman republican iconography.
I paired these with soft Clous Mountain turquoise, from Hubei where premium turquoise like these have been used by royal families for centuries.
Bezel-set with premium Argentium sterling for the bright white color and resistance to tarnishing. Created in the UK, Argentium is considered premium, second only to white gold.
Signed and stamped with my honeybee maker's mark on the back with silicone backs for a snug and comfortable fit.
