In antiquity, carnelian (red-orange) and peridot (vibrant green) were prized for both beauty and protective, magical properties. 

Egyptians believed carnelian was solar-linked and used in jewelry for protection, while Romans used it for seals (intaglio) because wax didn't stick to it. Carnelian symbolized the sun and blood, thus placing it in tombs to help guide souls.  Carnelian was also used to ward off anger, hatred, and envy.

Ancient Egyptians also believed peridot protected against nightmares and evil, calling it the "gem of the sun".  It was mined by Egyptians for its "sun stone" properties and later used in medieval European churches.  A perfect pair with Carnelian.

Care for Silk-Strung Beads:

Silk string adds a luxurious, flowing feel with beads and pearls, vs. wire cord.  As with pearls, a rule of thumb is to put this piece on last when dressing (after lotion, perfume or oils applied) and taking off first before bathing.  Keep dry and free from chemicals and store in the satin pouch provided for safe keeping.

Gently wipe with soft, clean cloth - polishing cloths have a chemical coating and are not recommended for natural stones or pearls.
